Top 5 songs by the New Pornographers

# 4. All the Old Showstoppers
Taken from the album "Challengers" (Matador, 2007)

Classic New Pornographers. Written by A.C. Newman as almost all my favourites, and still I don't like his soloalbums that much, well - it's a strange world we live in. Great powerpop tune. Reminds me somewhat of a lot of the British popbands from the seventies, i.e. Badfinger, ELO, the Move et. al.

Has the typical man/woman harmonizing that no one does as well as the Pornographers. A bit slower than some of the older material, but still a great footstomper.

As always good tongue in cheek lyrics:

"When Gabriel saw the numbers he fell
Fell through the clouds into the great well
But woke up before he hit the ground
No one had noticed still he looked around"
