Happy birthday to Dennis Wilson, born on this day in 1944. Often cast as the bad boy of the Beach Boys and overlooked as a songwriter and singer. His songs and delivery are in my opinion pure heart and soul. Dennis Wilson wrote and sang some of the best Beach Boys songs after Brian Wilson deteriorated in the late sixties/early seventies. Several of the highlights on albums like Sunflower and Carl and the Passions were the work of Dennis Wilson.
We also have to talk a bit about the solo album Pacific Ocean Blue, which is every bit as good as any of the raving reviews you have ever read about it. A bona fide classic. More about Dennis Wilson and Pacific Ocean Blue another time. Now dig some tunes!
