This clip is taken from the final television performance of Otis Redding for the show Upbeat in Cleveland. The performance was taped on December 9th 1967. Later that very same night, despite bad weather conditions and warnings, Reddings plane with the Bar-Keys took off for their next destination. The plane never reached Madison, Wisconsin. The plane crashed into Lake Monona on December 10th, just 6.4 km from the destination. The only survivor of the fatal plane crash was the Bar-Keys trumpet player Ben Cauley.
Otis Redding were just 26 years old.
