Innlandet Hestejazz Society | Moonshine Blends Vol. 5

"Some get strong, some get strange, sooner or later it all gets real." sings ol'Shakey in Walk On. Things have definitely been real for a while now. So let's forget about that and embrace some real tunes and good times. We've had our first summer days this week and the sun is really shining through in some of these songs.

Settle in with Relatively Clean Rivers, the best band you've never heard, before a two-punch with some of the busiest bass playing out there get you on your feet and ready to go. Mellow out with Sand (shout out to Scott Hirsch for that one, it's sooooo good) and Mighty Baby and then float of into space with my favourite version of I Know You Rider. The heady instrumental that follows is by our national treasure, Øystein Sunde. A brilliant player who is more known for his tongue twisting novelty songs. It's that never ending discussion of humour and music. Another cat who never get enough praise is Ian Matthews, just listen to the song here from the first Matthews Southern Comfort album. Speaking of good times, you always wanna have some Petty in your ears. He is sorely missed.

Sunshine daydreams and keep on truckin'!

Innlandet Hestejazz Society is a moniker that my good friend David Jønsson and me use when we are dj'ing around Oslo. Though to call it dj'ing might be an overstatement, we play records and have a good time. As crate diggers and heads we were drawn to the country-rock and the flying freak flags when we met behind the counter of a record store many years ago. Moonshine Blends are mixes of tunes we would have played in bars, but since we are confined to our own living rooms we are putting them up on the net for everyones pleasure. So tune in for some vibey west coast, hillbilly hobnobs, no-depression and blue collar country. Jerry Garcia, Johnny Paycheck and Jeff Tweedy hand in hand. Keep on truckin'!
