Innlandet Hestejazz Society | Moonshine Blends Vol. 1

Innlandet Hestejazz Society is a moniker that my good friend David Jønsson and me use when we are dj'ing around Oslo. Though to call it dj'ing might be an overstatement, we play records and have a good time. As crate diggers and heads we were drawn to the country-rock and the flying freak flags when we met behind the counter of a record store many years ago. Moonshine Blends are mixes of tunes we would have played in bars, but since we are confined to our own living rooms we are putting them up on the net for everyones pleasure. So tune in for some vibe-y west coast, hillbilly hobnobs, no-depression and blue collar country. Jerry Garcia, Johnny Paycheck and Jeff Tweedy hand in hand. Keep on truckin'!

Innlandet Hestejazz Society Moonshine Blends Vol. 1.

We're starting this thing right with a couple of songs about our beloved California. Country-rock pioneer Rick Nelson and his Stone Country Band gives way to the new wine that is the brilliant Pacific Range (they have just released their brilliant debut on Curation Records). The Illinois band Mason Proffit let's us know that rock n' roll is Freedom and Nick Lowe is ready to thump away with some pretty decent busy bass work on the Brinsleys "Ju Ju Man" written by Jim Ford. Doug Sahm and band are giving us some laid back comfort before we head into the late great John Prine. Man, what a loss. What a songwriter. Damn. It's good that we have Willie and his groovy Whiskey River. Now we are dancing with that girls who has bells on her shoes.. and that pedal steel laid down by the one and only "Skunk" with the Doobies.. Our friends in Sugarfoot are taking us up to Dolphin's Hotel.. Did I mention the pedal steel on that one? Oh boy, mr. Øien can play some mean pedal steel. Dig in and enjoy.
