Innlandet Hestejazz Society | Moonshine Blends Vol. 7

The norwegian artist Sgt. Petter once released an album called A Mid-Tempo Frenzy, and I've been thinking a lot about that title lately. It completely sums up my comfort zone in music. I thrive when I hear a really good mid-tempo song. If it's mellow as hell doesn't hurt either, but it must have some sort of groovy-ness to it. This is my go-to music, especially in the summertime. Just imagine a sort of sundazed mist on everything and a steady and groovy easy-going mellow mid-tempo tune setting the vibe.

Hopefully this week's mix will give you something to vibe on. From pre-Margaritaville Jimmy Buffett via new discovery Keith West (from Tomorrow) and his Moonrider to my favourite obscurity, Ernie Graham and a b-side from his sole single for Stiff Records.

If you haven't heard Mapache, you should go buy both of their albums right away.

Stay safe, stay healthy. Change is Now.

Innlandet Hestejazz Society is a moniker that my good friend David Jønsson and me use when we are dj'ing around Oslo. Though to call it dj'ing might be an overstatement, we play records and have a good time. As crate diggers and heads we were drawn to the country-rock and the flying freak flags when we met behind the counter of a record store many years ago. Moonshine Blends are mixes of tunes we would have played in bars, but since we are confined to our own living rooms we are putting them up on the net for everyones pleasure. So tune in for some vibey west coast, hillbilly hobnobs, no-depression and blue collar country. Jerry Garcia, Johnny Paycheck and Jeff Tweedy hand in hand. Keep on truckin'!
